It's that bulge above the eye and the amount of black in the corners, isn't it?
Babies certainly don't seem to have them. They have that innocent big-round-eyed look. No reason to be cross yet.

Not all adult garters have eyes like that though. Some of mien have those big round vacant ones like the babies
I am loving all the pictures though!

ok do you have any idea how paranoid that post has just made me?
ive just been staring at my snakes eyes trying to work out if they have evil eyes or happy eyes. luckily they are still young so both garters have happy eyes. |

That's funny. Now I have that song by Hall and Oates going through my head. The original title was "Private eyes" but I changed it to "Evil eyes".
