Hello!

Hii

Im new to this forum, so I thought I'd say hi!

I've had my garter snake for about a month now, after a relative failed to look after it properly I did the good thing and adopted him/her myself!

His name (I assume at the moment hes a He!) is Eduardo

I'm feeding him on lancefish at the moment which seems to be popular amonst keepers, hes a bit small for full sized fish hes about 9inches long.

One question I have is how often should I clean his enclosure? I find it difficult to pick him up as hes so fast and hence relocate him briefly while I clean his enclosure!

thanks

Mat

Hi Mat, and welcome to the forum.
As for cleaning... whenever it's necessary. I change the water daily. You will find he will soon become accustomed to your cleaning activities.

Ahh great yeah i change his water two or 3 times a week, though he doesnt take alot of interest with his water. Ive never seen him in/near it!

His enclosure is pretty big, and hes not too messy, I remove soiled bark and clean his cave once a week as this is where he spends most of his time.

I should mention that this is my first reptile, but so far ive really enjoyed keeping him! So far ive noticed that he comes out of his cave to watch me play my spanish guitar lol.
