At the moment....0. While I have had many snakes in the past, I had to give them up when I went back to school. Over the summer I started to get the bug again and was trying to track down a checkered Garter to start my collection. When I got my first garter, a Texas checkered garter, they were sold in local stores but no pet stores in all of Edmonton carry garters now. So I started to look online and could not find a forum dedicated to garters so I create the forum instead.

Which might not have been a good idea since now instead of wanting a checkered garter, I am hoping to track down a pair of San Francisco Garters. Know of anyone selling any?

Jason

I'm only allowed to have one snake, so obviously I voted one. Wish I could get another, though....

Same situation with me. Although my mom is convinced that I'm getting rid of my snake after it reaches 2 feet (yeah right)

I've worked with and actually bred Rough Green snakes before. I don't think they're all that hard to care for as long as you start out with healthy snakes to begin with. The biggest problem with them is feeding. Usually though, they take crickets very well and I offered mine cabbage worms too, which they loved ( I grew them myself on plants on my deck) they may take silkmoth larva as well, but never really tried them. They're almost like keeping some of your smaller lizards (like anoles), just with out legs!
