Re: How many Snakes?
I have 7 common colored Eastern Garter Snakes. My children & I catch and release many non-venomous species during the warmer weather, but we raised the Garters from a wild caught Mom and released her and most of the babies. We kept 4 female babies. And caught a baby male the same year. Plus we had 2 babies from a different Mom from the previous year. They are kept in a 55 gallon vivarium.

The two Thamnophis were wild caught in central Kitsap Co. near the town of Chico on Erlands Point (This is the face shaped peninsula[nose pointing east] jutting north into Oyster Bay, NNE about 1/2 inch from thr Bremerton dot) ![]() The person who identified them as T. ordinoides was a local herp breeder who works with Elaphe, Lampropeltis, rarer Pituophis, et. al. She did not indicate anything about T. ordinoides as to imply rareness, just that it was nice not to see just another T. sirtalis again . It sparked a re-interest in Thamnophis though (as much as I hate to say, my original plan for catching wild garters was to feed my Gray-Banded Kingsnake).

Re: How many Snakes?
Hey El Nino,
I'm sure you've made a few people squirm on that one. I thought, "yikes," but kingsnakes have to live and eat, too. Anyway, you're right. T. ordinoides aren't rare in your area, they're just not real common in the pet trade. There are a couple of differnt morphs, and I just wanted to have a look at yours. Hope to see them soon. Thanks, Rick |

Re: How many Snakes?
Don't worry y'all...my L. alterna is happy and well fed on pinkies now (although I had to rub them on the garters at first, that step is now unnecessary). I did get him a Green Anole for his birthday though
.
