I guess the most unusual "container" for me was a cigarette pack, but have simply put some in my pocket.

In a word, 'Yes'. That's how it works! Obviously not Garters in my case, but when I go looking for Grass Snakes, I've always just about given up then I start to find them.

isn't it soooo irritating????? especially when unprepared??? i was about 1/2 a mile away with a dog and a snake...

For the right snake, I'd hold it in my mouth while swimming across a river(and I dont swim well), them hike the mountain back to my car holding it my hands the whole way, if thats what it took.
