very nice boy the snakes with the beautiful facial markings are vagrans?? the don't look like garters am I missing something?

Natrix maura. It is roughly the equivalent of North American water snakes, only smaller and a lot less feisty. Like your water snakes, this little water snake also mimics venomous snakes. Nerodias mimic Agkistrodon, if I remember correctly, and Natrix maura mimics Vipera.

So they are the natrix! I was confused by the talk of the vagrans in the midst of all that, and I was wondering why they looked so unusual for garters.
Guess you managed to work out all the bugs in getting them. Good to hear!
