Re: This is an irreplacable resource

Yah i think some1 should do that too, also include the area the species is found, and also if the type of garter is very variable such as easterns then the person doing it should post multiple photos showing the variations.

It needs to be someone with a 'good eye' for a decent photograph, a knowledge of the Thamnophis species and sub-species and sufficient computer savvy to do the business...... I know who I'd choose!

Distribution info is available in the species description sections.... I was thinking a pure photographic reference. But multiple pics for each species/sub-species/morph etc.... absolutely.

Re: This is an irreplacable resource

Thanks Don. I hope all our members would allow us to put their (good!) photos into this new 'Photographic Library'.... photo credit would be given of course. I think we should only use pictures from within the membership though... no random internet images.

Re: This is an irreplacable resource

Great news! Stefan has started compiling our Thamnophis Photographic Library.
It is in the articles section, in Wiki format, so please feel free to add your photos to it. May I just say this though.... please only use your own photos (we don't want to get involved in any copyright issues), be sure you know the species or sub-species you're posting and last (but not least) no offence intended but please only good quality images that can be used to help ID snakes. Thanks guys... and thanks Stefan.

We used to have a real pro here, but he hasn't really been active for almost a year.

So this site, with all its variety of pictures should be a scientific treasure, something which should be archived and put into a safe place, especially the threads with all the pictures. Not even my local rangers or biologists were sure what type of snake I had.

Thanks again for a truly unique resource!
I totally agree. The is without doubt an invaluable Garter resource and a fun forum as well. It has to be ......... all Garter people are so fantastic
