This is an irreplacable resource
This site is a very helpful, irreplacable resource. The last time I searched for garter snake info on the net and in the library I could find no other resource that has any variations whatsoever of the easter garter snake. All books and websites had only the typical black with 3 stripe variety of eastern garter snake. So this site, with all its variety of pictures should be a scientific treasure, something which should be archived and put into a safe place, especially the threads with all the pictures. Not even my local rangers or biologists were sure what type of snake I had.
Thanks again for a truly unique resource!

Thank you for contributing.
This forum wouldn't be such an irreplacable resource, if it wasn't for the users. ![]() Of course it wouldn't be a forum either without admins and moderators keeping it afloat.

Re: This is an irreplacable resource
I think we may have more Garter experience and knowledge gathered on this forum than can be found anywhere else. It has developed into a resourse that should be respected and used by professionals as well as amateurs. Our collective knowledge is, I believe, unrivalled. Our database of Garter photos must by now be the largest single collection..... and yes, it's a fun place to be, filled with warm, generous, friendly people. I live here!

Based on my research on the net, the variety pictures here are definitely unrivalled. You have the most variety of any other site.

Re: This is an irreplacable resource
You know, one of us should take on the job of sorting through, cataloguing and storing all these wonderful Garter Snake pics into the 'Articles' section, so we have a quick photographic reference and identification guide. Who's up for that?
It needs to be someone with a 'good eye' for a decent photograph, a knowledge of the Thamnophis species and sub-species and sufficient computer savvy to do the business...... I know who I'd choose! ![]()
