this snake was found in new jersey

which has been released in the woods at a lake

can you please help id

he is about 8 or 9 in long a baby

Hi Sue, I believe you have a juvenile Northern Water Snake, Nerodia sipedon. Harmless and very pretty!

I believe these guys have 2 big fangs, they will bite but they are not poisonous.

No, they don't have fangs, big or otherwise. But they are known to be biters when first caught.
