I know this is a Garter Snake forum but...

...is it OK to feed my Green Anole and my Gecko those flying grasshoppers I find in my yard? I assume they are not much different than a cricket??

The only insects that I would specifically avoid when I kept lizards was insects with stingers, ants and caterpillars.

I know that fire flies are toxic to beardies
they must be toxic to other lizards too then
moths are very popular with my beardie
I've never caught any other flying insects

Re: I know this is a Garter Snake forum but...

Just make sure there are no pesticides being used in your area!! otherwise.. yes of course it is safe When I had lizards, I used to run around all the time in the field across from the house, except... I don't use butterfly nets I use my hands

I bet from a passer-by's perspective I probably looked pretty funny stalking around a field... creeping up and pouncing on what appears from a distance to be nothing... lol!

Take an umbrella, place it upside down under a bush, then gently shake or beat the bush.... the critters fall right into the umbrella. You'd be amazed how much you get from one attempt.
Of course we Brits all carry an umbrella (and wear a bowler hat).
