You could try craiglist.org in your area and/or see if there is a freecycle list www.freecycle.org in your area. I have be able to get several aquaria from freecycle (for free) and then I bought lids to go with them.

So does this mean that they can be pregnant through brumation and give birth earlier in the spring?

i think they can be gravid during brumation but not usually
