To be honest Shanley, I would try to find a way to continue to keep her separate from the others..... but put her (alone) in the baby-proof tank.

I know it's awkward, but if she gave birth and her babies were cannibalised by the others, (or if they escaped) you'd never forgive yourself.

VERY TRUE............ but they want to be together.......... LOL okay it is prob the best thing to do............. now if i can find a nice glass cage for UNDER $20!!!! THAT would solve ALL my problems!!!!!!! lol not really though.......

You could try craiglist.org in your area and/or see if there is a freecycle list www.freecycle.org in your area. I have be able to get several aquaria from freecycle (for free) and then I bought lids to go with them.

i think they can be gravid during brumation but not usually

Female Garters can store viable sperm from a successful mating for long periods of time, then self fertilize when they're ready.
