Personally, I would buy a captive born. They're tame and friendly, not stessed out by captivity, easy to handle, and much less likely to be full of parasites. I guess it depends on the individual snake, but we're really glad we bought instead of caught.
There's a little shop in Regina called Petzotica that will order in exactly the kind and colour of snake you want. He found exactly what we wanted and had it shipped in, and we've been really happy. I never knew a snake could be so friendly and full of personality.

i like WC snakes better.... in my opinion if they are mature when caught they really seem to be appreciative to you and they have better amune systems.... becase they have been exposed to everything already.......
Yes but if they're full of parasites then being in captivity can actually make their parasites worse and kill them. If it's possible I would also go with captive bred.
there are worse things that they can catch with poor amune systems...... i already lost the only 3 CB snakes i have ever had because of it...... never even had a WC snake get sick...... and only had mites once......
but as long as you are careful i don't think it matters much either way..... there are good and bad about both!!

i wouldnt like to guess either way. morally cb snakes have never had the wild to enjoy so are not any the wiser, wc however have had the freedom......maybe they would miss it.
it isnt really a choice for me as i had to buy my garters .
