They have rattlers, but I suspect that the places you'll get to on a family holiday may be pretty much devoid of snakes. You'd have to really hunt I reckon.

I'll still be somewhat hopefull, as there are lizards EVERYWHERE in Disney World and Orlando Studios.

If you are going to Florida, you will sometimes find snakes lying on the roads in the early morning when the first sun comes out. Go into the areas where the back roads are made of sand, and walk a couple of miles.

I have also seen garters in the mangrove areas of the nature preserves and parks. You gotta have a sharp eye!

I was about to fly to Miami Florida, then go to Mexico (cheaper somehow), but, we just had to do the expensive, boring way. But, I have to admit, Florida is my favorite place I've been to (right before Canada/BWCA).

lol I've neve been that far South! But my friend ho lives in Porta Ricco says there are geckos, anoles and parrots everywhere.. Green with envy. =P
