Re: horrible accident

My sincere condolences.

That happens to be one of my worst fears, accidentally hurting or killing one of my snakes. Hurting more than killing, because then there is the issue of either having to try to save it or end its suffering as quickly as possible.

We're very sorry to hear that. But do not blame yourself.
I know it feels terrible, but after the clouds the sun is always shining.

Re: horrible accident

of course I woke up this morning, still horrified at what I'd done and wanting to undo it
this morning I felt the sense of loss so acutely
you know - they're all such individuals
his personality - it's gone now
I was going to get him a mate . . .
Mikhaila wants another just like him
for me it'll take a few days more to accept what happened

Re: horrible accident

Rhea,

If I could, I'd hold you by both shoulders... look right into your eyes, and remind you that you didn't mean to fill that water bowl over the snake. It was an accident, and you didn't choose to do it! Accidents happen all too quickly, and you would have prevented it if could have. You couldn't because you didn't "choose" to do it. Like knocking a glass off a counter that shatters on the floor, it was an accident, so as Fons says, "don't be too hard on yourself."

Re: horrible accident

I know it's already been said, but don't be too hard on yourself.
I'm sure many, if not most of us have made a mistake that that could have, or did, have a similar outcome (I know I have) - you were just unlucky

Maybe give yourself a bit of time and then look into getting a snake from a local rescue centre - there's always one that needs a good home.
