I found this picture on the internet.

The only info was that is was a Mexican Mountain Snake.

Does anyone recognize this species?

But it doesn't look anything I have on picture that could be related to Mexican Mountain Garter Snake.

I GOT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAMNOPHIS EQUES AND IT HAD A SUB SPECIES CALLED BLUE STRIPED MEXICAN GARTER BUT IT HAD NO PICTURE. WHAT SIGHT DID YOU FIND THAT PICTURE BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE IT MAY BE CAPTIVE?

hmmmmm.....looks an awful lot like my Northwestern garter....pattern matches almost perfectly. Doesn't look like the eques pics I have seen.

Hmmm, Nortwester? That´s Thamnophis ordinoides, I believe?

I´ve compared some pics and I think you might be right. At least it looks like it.
Has nothing to do with Mexico however.

I found the picture on a site of a Japanese Reptileshop.

yes, it would be ordinoides.... Japanese reptile shop eh....well, they could be wrong... I have known many pet stores that name things wrong... ran into a guy that had bought an "African water lizard" When I saw this "lizard" I told him he had been fooled...it was a baby american alligator!!!!!

Hello,

as I saw the pircture for the first time I was thinking about that this could be one of the 'new' supspecies from T. eques - maybe T. eques carmensis. I haven't found any realistic photographs from this supspecies, but here http://diglib1.amnh.org/novitates/i0...ensis%20pdf%22 is the link to the description of all new subspecies (it's an pdf-file).

interesting thought....but....considering what the paper says about the subspecies and the areas found in it would be unlikely that it would be that subspecies. They are found in very limited areas and wouild be unlikely they would be collected for sale. I didn't read the entire article (gotta leave for work) but will later. I would love to see pics of all these subspecies tho!!! I would love to be out there running around collecting and studying them too!!
