they shed more often when they're little and go through growth spurts
how much are you feeding?
just make sure your snake's girth does not expand faster than its length

This should be fine.......sounds like he's growing on you. HOw big is he now? I think if I remember correctly that they top out at about 18in. They will also shed to repair any damage to them, since he's wild caught does he have any damaged scales or such? As far as feeding too much, this would cause him to grow at a possible faster rate then say in the wild, but don't think you have much to worry about as long as he's not looking obese.

Re: ?? on sheding

hi, when I caught him he had some damage to his tail , it will never look normal , kinda looks like he is a rattler with his funky tail.
I am assuming he was born last year before hibernation had set in and may have shed 2 times already, he is 13 inches long as of today.
bye

Yeh, that sounds pretty normal then. I've noticed that snakes seem to shed a good bit right out of hibernation, and especially if he's got a damaged tail. You'll want to watch that and make sure that the skin comes off there or it may actually create a turniquit and cut off the blood supply to that bit of the tail.
