New Borns

I caught my Garter about a month ago and when I woke up this morning there were babies in the cage. Since this is my first snake can anyone tell me what to do and how to take care of them? Also if anyone would want then just let me know.

Re: New Borns

Hi JoeStef, congratulations with the birth.

At first put them in another vivarium, away from the adult. To prevent accidents.
Their vivarium must be very well closed, because young are master in escaping.
Try feeding them worms after a week or so.

If nobody wants them you could release them where you caught the mother.

Re: New Borns

She is a Florida Blue and 11 babies made it and 9 did not. I will try and get some picks soon. Right now I have the babies in a 10g tank with a water and food bowl and a place for them to hide on the cool side. I have a under tank heating pad on the other. Is there anything else I should add? When and what should I feed them? Any suggestions appreciated since these are my first babies.

I feed mine "small" worms and either small feeder guppies or rossie minnows. If you can't get worms small enough, you can cut larger ones into pieces.
