Can an eastern garter live with a Red Sided garter?

Can i put an eastern garter of the same size in with my red sided garter? Will they get along? Can they live together?

Yes, or no...

It will depend on the snakes.

Put them together and keep an eye on them.

If one or the other acts "all stressed out" or is pacing madly about, then separate them.

I have kept and do keep mixed sub species together, Just make sure they are same sex. That's another important thing to keep in mind. If you make a mistake on gender, then "Life will find a way" and you will wind up with some hybridized babies.

Thanks, I'll post pics but i'm 99% sure he's male. I've researched it and I'm almost postive. He's small, his tail fits description,(and looks like the pics you just gave me) etc. etc.

(and when I said 'I know the sex of snakes???' a couple posts ago, I meant I dont know how to tell the sex. Sorry. Although I think you figured that out.

Pretty easy, especially when sexing adults, once you get the hang of it.

Keep them same sex and about same size.
Be sure to follow a quarantine period on the snakes that might be new.
