    Left Shedding?

My Blue-Striped-Garter snake went into shedding mode about 8 days ago and then his eyes became clear, and the same thing happened again. Advice would help.

Did he shed? If not I would suggest a shed box.

Some take longer then others to complete the job.
Make sure there is a good water supply and a few rough item in the enclosure.
Retained sheds are very dangerous so this is a situation that needs monitored.
How is the snake behaving? Anything different?

No changes in behavior, active and still curious. However, his skin looks shinier, like he shed, but I still can't find his shed skin. His eyes are also clear.

What kind of substrate do you use? Could it be buried in it? I found a few sheds that way, just had to dig through the substrate.

Snakey has done that and it was because he was about to shed. He should shed in a day or two, keep the humidity up.

Well I have wood chips (ReptiBark), and he's shed 3 times very easily with no shed box needed. I also looked through the substrate, but ill take a second look.

I've found that snakes with a retained shed have a glossy look. They also are not as active and seem stiff when picked up.
If you can't find that shed I would seriously consider it retained and treat it accordingly.
    Just my opinion.

My snakes were very dull when they retained, but perhaps northwesterns are a little bit different. They seem to have more trouble shedding. When someone is shedding I mist every day, 2-3 times a day and they still retained.
