Another dumb question

can someone explain why if we are restricted to 50 messages why we have overspill one two and three, does this provide some added storage space or does it have some other function

No additional storage. It is all based on the 50 total.
I'm just guessing but 50 is probably a default size and the one chosen by Boots.
I'm sure this will be clarified by someone which the buttons and knowledge.

Yes, messages are restricted to 50 max, overspill is for moderators to "force" messages in your box even if it is full.
