Post Breeders
Maybe a thread containing recommended breeders could help people that want more snakes or are looking at buying their first.
Kingsnake.com and Scott Feltzer's site are the only ones that I can think of.

Re: Post Breeders
Good idea, Matt.
Here are more sites that specialize in garters & misc colubrids. The first one is pretty active throughout the summer (FaunaClassifieds Ads - Garter, Water & Ribbon Snakes - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds). Even though the next one is called a forum, people are just using it to advertise snakes (FaunaClassifieds - Garter, Water & Ribbon Snakes). This third site doesn't specialize in garters or misc colubrids, but they normally offer T.s. sirtalis fairly cheap during the summer (Live Reptiles, Amphibians & Insects - Pet Solutions). It'll be neat to see how active this site becomes when the young are born next spring . |

Re: Post Breeders
I like that second site you posted. But I'm surprised that when you sort it by popularity, garters are on the FOURTH page! Oh well

Re: Post Breeders
Since they don't offer different species/subspecies at that 3rd link, I don't think many garter enthusiasts give them a lot of attention. At the risk of stealing Don's thunder, I'm feeling a bit guilty about not recognizing one of our own breeders who has helped many of us ID our snakes (Welcome to Don's Garter Snakes).

Re: Post Breeders
Glade Herbs from Florida usually has some Thamnophis. I don't know wheather they breed any of them or not as many of the ones on the site below are wild caught. I have bought from them and was very satisified with the health of their snakes.

Re: Post Breeders
I can recommend breeders for those who live in Europe (Or should there be a seperate thread for it?). I only recommend someone that I already bought a snake from. They don't have a website, since I don't know if I can add more information about them for now I only add there names:
Steven Bol (THE best breeder in the Netherlands for garter's in my opinion) Sabine & Gijs ( they are on the forum here and their collection is still growing, but I can certainly recommend them ) |

Re: Post Breeders
I guess that everybody should say where their breeders are from (although it probably says on the site) for obvious reasons.

Re: Post Breeders
Hey Sue,
The kingsnake site that Matt was referring to in the first post is: Kingsnake.com Classifieds > Other Snakes Unfortunately, you just missed a large reptile show in St. Louis about 2 weeks ago. Good luck in the search, Rick |
