Re: The November Photo and Captions Comments thread.
That's right, but wasn't Jason's comment about 'keeping things the same' when we asked about including photos not in the photo contest? I guess I'll have to read back through that thread.

Re: The November Photo and Captions Comments thread.
I´m sure to that point, James, but know nothing about a discussion about the scale of editing that is eligible.
That must have been more in the past. My oppinion is, ther should be no more rule than that the original picture must still have to be cognisable. BTW: How many editing is allowed in the photo contest? ![]() and: Althought its a fact you may ad to the conditions of the photo contest, that each participant gives his permission to use his picture in the caption contest. |

Also, I'd like some clarification regarding what is meant with "relevant to pictures posted in" the photo contest. Do they have to be based on the ones in the photo contest, or is it enough that they just follow the same theme?

After studying the meaning of "relevant" I´m quite sure again. Otherwise it should be written: "relevant to the theme of the photo contest". |

Re: The November Photo and Captions Comments thread.
I can see there is some confusion as to exactly what is and isn't eligible. As I don't single handedly make the rules, we will have to ask Jason for clarification on this. To me, as long as every one is having fun with it, and no one is complaining about captions that are posted, it's fine to use a little imagination when making a caption contest entry.

Re: The November Photo and Captions Comments thread.
May I suggest that the rules were created based on a group concensus, and they'll continue to evolve as the wishes of "the group" change. Any time any member wishes for a rule change, they should simply make a proposal and ask for opinions. It can be done with a poll or simply by starting a new thread (or by discussing it in the contest "comments" threads, like this).
Unless the majority feels otherwise, I suggest that only captions made on pictures that were in the photo contest should be eligible to win the caption contest. I don't see any problem with people submitting additional pictures/captions, but I suggest that they shouldn't be eligible to win our grand prizes . Personally, I think people should be able to do as much "photoshop" work on pictures as they'd like for the caption contest... as long as they wouldn't be considered offensive to our younger members. What are your thoughts on: 1) only making captions for pictures in the monthly photo contest, and 2) how much photoshop work should be allowed? As always, majority rules. Rick |

Re: The November Photo and Captions Comments thread.
I would prefere to change the rule to: "relevant to the theme of the photo contest", that would make it possible to use a second choice photo like this for the caption.
![]() photoshop work should be allowed as much as the original photo is still cognisable. |
