okay I guess I'll do that... so today is his day to eat, should I just automatically start feeding him pinkies or should I gradually switch his diet by giving him like 2 pinkies and a couple minnows?

Okay, I just did. I guess I'll just wait a few minutes? I guess if he doesn't eat soon I'll put them back in the freezer and give them to him tomarrow.
