Re: **HELP** Injured turtle

I'm sorry, Lori. I know we (and especially you) would like to save every creature in need. But sometimes it's just beyond us. I think you did the right thing. We need to recognise when our intervention is counter-productive.

The next needy turtle you happen across will probably become a family pet for the next forty years!

Kyle, I have no idea what sex it was... just called him a he. :-) I'm no turtle sexing expert.

I agree James, at least he isn't still lying on the road with traffic whizzing over him!! We do what we can, right?

Males have long claws on the front legs... for tickling females.

Re: **HELP** Injured turtle

Sorry there was no saving him Lori. Had such nice coloring. I found my first Spotted Turtle last week and it was in the same condition, so I ended its suffering there and then.

Re: **HELP** Injured turtle

Sid, I gotta tell you, I was waiting to hear from you... I had this sinking feeling that you'd find this thread and tell me he COULD have been saved... I figured you would have come across this before!! I rarely have found them hit and alive... Usually they are dead when I find them. So, it reassures me again that you agree he was better put down. Thanks.
