some radix are dark coloured with not much pattern
their dorsal stripe is generally an orangish yellow and they have lateral stripes of a paler yellow given Natalie's location, that's what I would think this is

Hiya Natalie, welcome to the forum. Interesting collection you've got there. Have to agree that the garter looks like a T.radix, but with out a scale count or at least a good side shot I wouldn't say 100%. I'm also thinking that the monitor is actually a Water monitor (Varanus salvator) rather then a Nile (Varanus niloticus)....the nostril is rather low on the snout for a Nile.....it's usually right between the eye and the end of the nose. Your's is down further on the snout. Anways, welcome!
