    Hello From Missouri!!!!

    Hello,my name is Brett and I'm thinking about getting a garter soon.Maybe a pugent sound.But Idk what a good type to start out on.Please if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Welcome aboard.

    For a first garter I'd recommend one of the species with the broadest diets, in other words T. sirtalis, T. radix or T. elegans. Not that the difference is that great, but some specialists can be difficult to keep.

    I would recommend T.radix. Stefan's advise is sound.

    Nice to have you with us. I only recommend radix because that's what I specialize in. They seem very adaptive. I've had wild caught eat from my hand moments after being caught. I also hand feed a number of wild ones that live around my property.
    What area of the county are you in?

    Stupid question. I'm guessing Missouri. Radix is right up your alley. If you ever make it up to Council Bluffs, you are welcome to come by and pick out a radix from my group. No charge.
