this week we went on a trip to Niagara Falls. It was awesome! The falls were so big and the water never stopped! I wonder where all that water is coming from.

Anyway, we got to go to the base of the fall. IT WAS SO FUN! There were a bunch of decks at the base of the fall. There was a deck called Hurricane deck. It was right under the waterfall. I went to Hurricane deck and got soaked. It feels amazing when the water is crashing down on your back. I wanted to go again.

We did other fun stuff too. Drache has more than 150 pics. She'll post later.

Before we went to Niagara Falls we went to Ithaca. I really liked it. They had a nice cafe there that had the best smoothies in the world!

The final treat was the visit to Terry's!
We had a great breakfast of pancakes, bacon and eggs.
It was the best breakfast i've had in months!
Then, Terry showed us his snakes. They were all so beautiful!
After that, we went on a nice long walk with Terry and his dog,
chloe.
Terry gave drache and i each a snake. They are both so beautiful.
Terry said he thinks they are gonna mate. I hope so!
He gave me 2 turkey feathers. They are really nice too!
Then we had to go. We said bye to Chloe and Terry.
Then we left.
It was a great trip!

james! Dont worry!
Rhea is gonna post pictures of
Terry too.

Mikihaila, Sounds like a gread trip. The Falls are a place I hope to visit some day. Congrat's to both you and your Mom on the new snakes, very kind of Terry. Maybe someday I'll make it to New York, see the Falls and can get a chance to meet all of you.;)

yes
it was a much better trip than I had anticipated
I'd been looking forward to Ithaca
it's a lovely university town with plenty of good food places to choose from
and spectacular gorges
there wasn't much water, but we did hike up a riverbed to a waterfall
it was lovely

the stone there is shale and sandstone and some of the formations look man-made with their straight lines and squares

That's making me wish I had said to go to the American side. On the Canadian side there's just a bunch of casinos and things, no chance for anything natural like your first pictures.
Although we did have a bigger waterfall :p

can you even stand the suspense?
Of course we already knew that Terry is a nice person
he makes a fantastic breakfast too

I didn't take pics of his sun room, but I can tell you that it is both much larger and much more full of stuff than you'd suspect from his pics
the viv he made is also even nicer
well
here's the three of us

here's a pic of Mikhaila's new snake whom she named Jasper

and
you're not going to believe this (I hardly can)
this is the snake, Terry gave me

Very cool sounds like a really fun trip. Never been up there myself. Funny, those falls in Ithica are right near where my sister lives. If you follow the stream upstream for about a mile it goes through her property. She's got some really cool pics of the falls from last winter. Really pretty Maritimes you got from Terry too. Very cool looking and really good colours.:D

We had a wonderful time.:D Rhea, Mikhaila and Jeff are even nicer in person than here (which is hard to imagine). I know two snakes have a VERY good home. If Jasper is really a Jasper (and not a Jasperette:eek:) there might be babies next year. Great names Mikhaila, it was really nice naming Rhea’s Chloe (formally green girl, no imagination there). It was great to meet you. The photos were great, and Jeff did a good job (I didn’t look too fat) on the portrait. BTW the first falls is Taughannock Falls, and is actually higher than Niagara (215 ft), only the volume of water is slightly less (I couldn't resist adding some nearly useless trivia).:D:D

now that I think of it, those falls looked really tall - never occurred to me to compare the height with Niagara
and I'm sure now, judging from that riverbed that is has an immensely larger capacity for water
there was a lady there who said she'd never seen it so dry before
they also don't let you get you very close, because of the danger from falling rocks

I just love useless trivia

oh, we also went to this town called Lockport, so named because of a series of locks (boat elevators) in the Erie Canal (10' elevation difference each, totaling 50")
this town once had three factories run directly by hydro-power
the water was diverted from the Canal through huge water pipes that had been tunneled through the rock
that water directly powered the drive shafts for the machinery in the factories
so we got to walk through one the main tunnel and that was pretty amazing
even though it's man-made, this tunnel is now old enough to start behaving a bit like a natural cave, forming stalactites and flow stone patterns
