Finally! A good litter!
Twelve healthy and huge babies :D
The mother started eating in the last week of april. She stopped eating somewhere at the end of may. Since then, she hasn't eaten anything! Incedible, she didn't eat, she DID 'grow' babies and still she isn't skinny at all! Really one of natures wonders :)

these guys are all around 6 grams. My normal babies are between 1,5 and 2,5 grams...Can you imagine I said "they are huge" about 50 times when I found them!

I do have a question with the birth of these guys...
I've read a couple of times that these guys will only eat tadpoles in the early stage of their lifes. To me, that means they are born when tadpoles are abundant and that should be at the beginning of the rainseason. I tried to trigger birth (since I'm leaving saturday) and decided to mist the enclosure heavily every night. She now has given birht. Could there be some kind of connection between the misting and the rainseason theory?

Allright...the interesting stuff...

Whoohooo, congratulations Sjoerd !!
I'm soooo happy for you :) Just in time ;)
They look gorgeous ♥

your theory sound very logic to me, but I don't know if it's true. If I were you I would write all the info down, but I have no doubt that you already did that :p

Thanks guys!
Indeed Sabine, I'm writing everything down!
And I'll keep misting since the other girl is still a fatty. I hope to try my theory again next year :D

Maybe you should try to mist one female and the other female not. Than you know for sure if your theory is correct ;)

That might be a good way of testing the theory. Pair them up on the same day, mist one of them...And compare temperatures/sheds/foodintake/ days of gravidity and everything....

Good thinking! :D

Congrats, Sjoerd! They look great :)

Here I have 3 eaters and 6 non-eaters. The one who was barely alive at birth didn't make it in the end...

Something else... I tried to sex them this weekend, but had a lot of difficulties.... I popped all females, are they more difficult to pop than other species?
