May I suggest you check out the Thamnophis.sirtalis.infernalis. They are not protected and a number of US breeders are able to provide those. Those snakes look very similar with similar coloration but instead of solid stripes on the sides they have the spots similar to the T.s.concinnus. I just got my babies today and they are amazing. Do look them up.

Interesting...I thought that tetra were more aggressive than infernalis...I have heard that both can have attitude. Of course, I like snakes with attitude. Maybe Cee Cee is a tetra in disguise.

You can't just generalize a snake's attitude based on species/subspecies. It makes total sense that any garters from that general area of the CA coast, would develop similar behavior. Apparently it serves them well to do "viper impressions" or else they wouldn't do it. I don't recall ever encountering any species of CA garter snake that didn't give me an aggressive, "scary looking" display like that. Originally Posted by EasternGirl
