From a friend who has been trying to personally breed both species of green snakes... and after a lot of failures, as they need special habitat requirements, produced the first of a hopefully many new cb animals... I happen to live in a state where they aren’t protected, yet...

    That’s cool.

I live in Minnesota, too. Minneapolis.

Awesome! I live in northeastern Minnesota, on the iron range... not much for herps way up here but have been scouring the Minnesota landscapes looking for new animals... haven’t found anything uncommon yet... have you ever seen any wild green snakes or hognose snaes ever in Minnesota?

Cool. That's a beautiful part of the state. I've never seen any wild green snakes or hognose snakes. I get outdoors quite often and hike a lot, but I always bring my two dogs, so it's hard to really go herping in a serious way.

I've seen a wild gopher snake at William O'Brien State Park, a wild gopher snake that was unfortunately run over in Rogers, Minnesota and a fox snake that unfortunately died in a prescribed prairie burn at Coldwater Spring park in Minneapolis. I've seen live garters with a bright blue stripe down their backs at Pickerel Lake in Lilydale Regional Park between St. Paul and Lilydale, Minnesota. Those garters were beautiful. I know yellow stripes in garters sometimes turn blue when they die, but I've seen multiple live ones with that blue stripe.

Although I keep two garters at home, I'm still a wuss about catching snakes in the wild. Haha.
