My trip to the Staten Island Zoo

    Hey all,

Got some shots from the Staten Island Zoo to share. Went there a few weeks ago and have been really lazy in putting them up. Just gonna share my favs for now.

    Western Diamondback Rattlesnake (Crotalus Atrox)

Southern Pacific Rattlesnake (Crotalus Oreganus Helleri)

    Eastern Cottonmouth (Agkistrodon piscuivorus):

Broad-banded Copperhead (Agkistrodon Contorix laticinctus): Probably the prettiest snake in existence.

Thanks Sid. Every time I go to the zoo I always neglect to take pictures of animals without venom glands.

Nice pictures Rick. Aruba Island Rattlers are lovely, aren't they?

    Certainly, James.

All the snakes I've seen from that species look almost albino. Cool looking snakes. Super endangered. Their keeper said they were pretty docile for rattlesnakes.

A few years ago I was in the Caribbean a couple of times. I always intended to get to Aruba... it never happened.

Great pictures, Rich. I particularily like the use of the umbrella and the cooler to represent the Aruban habitat . I also noticed that there wasn't a speck of urates/faeces. It must be tough to keep the rocks in those viper cages so clean.
