    Lovely photo. In the UK we call this a "Katydid". Grasshoppers are different here (I don't have a picture).

    Perhaps "Katydid" is only a UK name. Like we call Natrix natrix helvetica a Grass Snake, while you call it a Ringed Snake. Different countries, different names!

    On this side of the pond, we have different types of grasshoppers, crickets, and katydids... and the katydids are so named because their song sounds like they are saying, "katydid, katydid" or "katy-she-did, katy-she-did-she-did"!

    We call this animal a *free translation...* Treegrasshopper, Meconema thalassinum

    They look a lot like the Tettigonia viridissima

    few new pics coming in a second or so...

    I never knew the had such an evil look!

    In the UK we call several things "Daddy-Longlegs"........Pholcus, Harvestmen, and Crane-Flies. Another reason why I prefer scientific names.
