    I try to work on the enclosure
    First I have to shovel a lot of soil away,
    because I have to make the place mice proof!

    Will you use steel mesh under the ground to keep the mice from tunnelling in? That's what I had in mind.

    yes, wild mice are vrey dagerous for such little snakes especially during hibernation.
    and on the other hand mice holes are excellent escape tracks

    Yes, it was the escape holes I was concerned about. Another way to get around this would be to provide a deep base of stone hardcore under the subsrate.... mice could not burrow through this and it would also provide excellent drainage in case of heavy rain.

    How deep will you need to dig to make the "den"? Is ground frost ever a problem in your area(s)?

    wether wich way I try, I have to dig first
    I cant dig very deed at the surounding because there are piplines and wire in the ground.
    The den has to be 80 cm under the surface when its filled with isolating subtrate.
