I didn't even think to ask about breeding her but I can ask my vet when she has her post-op check next week. She's still doing well and being very good about taking her meds too. She also ate a...

They are much larger than the other ones she passed.

Oh well Cayelyn came home yesterday after I'd asked if she could stay at the vet over the weekend as we were meant to be going away up north and my mum is looking after the snwkes for us....

Just to keep everyone updated...
Cayelyn didn't manage to pass the remaining slugs so had the op to remove them today.
She did really well and was just starting to move around again when I hung...

Thankfully my parents had the good sense to research a good reptile vet before allowing me to buy my first garters in 1997. I've since lost them but Caelyn was the first of my current four garters...

Well I took her back to the vet today, he wants to try another lot of injections and if there's no progress overnight he wants to operate and remove the slugs. He's done the same op a few times...

Unfortunately she didn't pass the slugs by the time our appointment came round so I took her in to see the vet yesterday. She had an ultrasound which revealed two stuck slugs so was given an...

I have a 2011 marcianus who has been in fine health for me up until now. I found two dried up "slugs" in her viv this morning and, thinking she had finished "laying them' took her out to check her...

These little guys are absolutely beautiful, I've never seen any for sale in the UK though I think a few of the big breeders in Europe may have some.

my parents tried that one on me but I scraped it off with my teeth, then spend a few hours trying to get the taste out my mouth.

It certainly doesn't seem to bother them and they're both healthy as horses otherwise. The infernalis is named Spook and the marcianus is Caelyn.

Here's a photo of my girls, I'm not sure if it shows the skin around the eyes. almost like the scales don't cover them properly?...

I think it's definitely right to er on the side of caution. Thank you for the information. :)

I was going to say paper towels or newspapers too, in saying that I use horse bedding which consists of little cardboard squares. My guys like to burrow in it.

The idea that hair causes impaction is something I've seen a few times, I was wondering if there was anything to back this up or is it mainly anecdotal evidence at this time? Don't get me wrong I...

I think I got my first garters when I was around 12 years of age (due to their diet they were the only genus my parents would allow me to have as they didn't want a freezer full of dead mice). I...

It's times like this when I wish I could outgrow my nail biting habit.

I don't wish to spam the forum with loads of nonconstructive postings but I'll see what threads I can reply to.

Sorry to hear of your loss, planting some lovely flowers would be nice. When my first radix (Redd-Boy-Slim) died we got a pretty little plant with blue flowers that I forget the name of. It's since...

This has maybe been mentioned before but I have a couple of garters who almost look as though their eyes are too small for their heads? I've never seen this on photos of wild garters so was wondering...

Hi everyone garter snakes were the very first snakes I'd ever owned, now that I've moved out of my parents house I've purchased/rescued three garter snakes. I have two marcianus and a sirtalis...
