Hi all,
I'm getting ready to move and have several books for sale. I'd like to ship them as a package deal for USD $80 (that includes postage to your door), but I'll list them individually and...

Good times, MK :). I wish I had more time to be as active as I once was, but sadly, I don't.
I love how excited you are about your new snakes, MK, and your enthusiasm tells me you'll be a...

They're on their way, MK, and one just shed yesterday!!! Look for them to arrive on Wednesday ;).

Hi all. Amanda,
I'm glad you got the snakes in good health and are pleased with their appearance. You've probably already noted their good muscle tone and explorative nature. Two of those have...

Thanks to Zoe for making her first post in an attempt to help someone else and to Shannon for following up with more sage advise. Cheers,

Great pictures, Rich. I particularily like the use of the umbrella and the cooler to represent the Aruban habitat ;). I also noticed that there wasn't a speck of urates/faeces. It must be tough to...

Sounds like you've had a productive year. Good luck at the show tomorrow.

Ohhh, now you're just showing off. You Fins have all the luck .
I'm taking my daughters to see the nation's capitol. We're leaving tomorrow morning and will be gone for just over a...

Hi Jason, and thanks for the great introduction. Enjoy your visits, and be sure to let us know if you need anything. Out of curiosity, how did you find this forum?

Hi Jennifer and welcome to the forum.
Fish, in general, aren't bad for snakes at all, but certain species can be harmful. Have a look at this article for more details...

Sound logic indeed, James, and you bring up good counterpoints. As for observation, all you'd get to do is have a peek at a lethargic (but beautiful) snake once in a while. I suppose if that would...

Rats!!! I only lost by 9 votes this time. Either I'm getting better, or you folks are getting worse :p.
Nice job, Kuno. If I had to lose, I'm glad I was beaten by you... and Reed... and...

I'm certainly not arguing that people should brumate every wild snake they find in their fridge and then release them. Most of the time, I argue against releasing captive snakes, but in my opinion...

Good job Stephan. I'd like to tell you the time will fly by, but it rarely does without others running around. Maybe it'll free up some time for those other projects, though. Best,
Rick

Michelle,
That sounds really funny. I'd love to see it :).

I've never used beef heart, but I've had a lot of success introducing new food items by giving them a lot of their favorite food and just a little bit of the new food item (after washing). I also...

What a pretty snake. I'd consider myself lucky and take the pictures, perhaps even brumate it in safety, but come spring, I'd let it go unless you know how to care for them. Just my opinion.

What luck! Congrats, Don.

I'll second James' comment. Just introduce live fish for a few hours and then remove them. It makes for a cleaner environment and the new sight at feeding time can be exciting (for the snake).

Great pictures, Don. I particularily like the pose in the first picture. It looks like she's hiding and thinks you don't see her.

Hi Laura,
Congrats on finding our little corner of the internet. I hope you enjoy it here. Regards,

Hi Shayna,
I don't want to add a bunch of confusion, but in the washed out picture, I think I can see a bit of swelling posterior to the vent. I'm not sure, but Rook may actually be a he. Don't...

I put adults down for about 4 months, and yearlings down for three (if at all). I don't brumate snakes in their first year at all. Since yours has already gone for 6 weeks at normal temps, I'd only...

I'd be a little concerned about the dust particles from cat litter, too. Since their heads are so close to the substrate, they're constantly inhaling whatever is on/in their substrate. Anything...

Personally, I've never used it in a hibernaculum, but I've dampened and used it in the main cages to provide a moist area for young ones. One thing about hibernacula is that the inner walls become...
