    Possibly a garter snake?

Found this little guy next to the heater in my apartment, I live in Montana so winters are pretty cold. I put him in a 10 gallon my corn outgrew. Any guesses on what he is? Feisty little guy black tongue and lateral stripes but no dorsal stripe, dark grey belly with black bands. Keeled scales and dark in coloration, darker than the pictures. Thanks!Attachment 14877Attachment 14878Attachment 14879Attachment 14880

I live in western Montana. He's really small what should I feed? We have a foot of snow outside so I wont be able to find any worms outside. Is there something I can buy at petsmart/petco?
