Mom Hit A Wild Snake With Shovel

Mom dug up hibernating garter snakes. She hit one with a shovel. He has low mobility in about 5/6ths of his body ( From where she hit him and down) and he keeps opening his mouth. His tongue flicks are random and sometimes his tongue doesn't fully go back in his mouth. He's also got jagged/shaky head movement and seems to have a bad sense of balance.
    Should we take him in?

I'd bring him to a wildlife rehabilitator.
