Throwing up water?

I found a snake on my front lawn the last week and I figured I'd take him in to live with my other garter to save him from my cats, who are constantly leaving us presents at the front door (how I got my first little guy), and the weather (I live in Westchester, NY and its getting pretty damn cold).

Just a couple minutes ago I picked the new guy up to handle him a bit and almost immediately, he started throwing up clear liquid. I'm pretty sure I was watching him drink from the water dish about 5-10 minutes earlier, so I'm confident its just the water coming up as a nervous reflex. Also, I handled him for a good couple minutes the other day and had no problem. In any event, I just wanna be sure that its not some kind of illness or anything like that.
