    Hi everyone warbot from South-Africa here

    Nice to be back, I am getting my red sided garters tonight (it is now 3:49pm in the afternoon here) so I can't wait

    Is there anything different between them and checkered garters?

    and what is their Latin/scientific name?

    Congrats on the new additions.
    Red-sideds are Thamnophis sirtalis parietalis. You'll find that they can be kept just like checkereds (although they come from Northern America and into Canada, whereas checkereds are found mostly in the Southern States).
    post some pictures up for us once they've settled in.
    Keeping - 'Florida blue' sirtalis, concinnus, infernalis, parietalis, radix, marcianus and ocellatus.
