Mine wanted Anoles for the first few meals, now he scarfs down 4 pinks per meal.

They grow fast too, Toby is a good 24 inches now.

Great job getting the legs and tails to work out.

Or if you could handle it, you could find a seller that supplies feeder lizards. Racers generally want lizards as prey as babies, maybe since you had some luck getting him to swallow some mice parts, yours will be easy!
I suppose that would depend on the racer species and where it's from perhaps. Not much in the way of lizards to speak of in my county and yet, yellow bellied racers are not uncommon at all.

I mean, sure, we have NW alligator lizards and that is all. I have found racers numerous times in areas that seem to be completely lacking lizards.

I even found a baby racer in an empty lot (about one acre) overgrown with grass, surrounded by old development and pavement. Nothing there but rodents. No garter snakes even!

But yeah, way more racers in a place I know of in the mountains of N. California. (5,000 ft. elevation) Lizards (and rattlesnakes) everywhere in that location.

The other day was the first chance the kids and I have had to breakout the Kayaks. Now that my shoulder is better we needed to hit the water.
Here's my crew. Checkout Hailee on the far left side. She was having a little trouble holding her kayak up.
We spent a couple hours paddling around the DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You should see the looks we get when all six of us are in the water. Many people think it's a kayaking class. All I know is it's great family time. Well worth the investment.
We saw approximately 40 wild turkeys and a number of deer. The only snake we saw was a female T.s.parietalis(Red Sided Garter Snake) which had been killed on the road.
