    Hey, stefan deleted his "round" pupil pic. That's what I was saying "still not round" to. The fact is, even vertical pupils are round. It's the way the iris closes to block the pupil that makes them look vertical. In certain situations the iris opens wide enough that it doesn't cover the pupil and so you see "round" pupils but they are not perfectly round. The front will usually look a bit flattened.

    oh and columbian red tailed boas dont normally have vertical slit pupils to most peoples knowledge...just throwing that out there iow im keepn this goin! i dissagree that boas and vipers normally have one or the other it just varies. GENETICS....uhoh power point ill post later

    I deleted it, because there was already a picture of a pupil round enough to be called round.

    He was trying to make a point about round pupils on a pit viper(rattlesnake) and being how the pupils were rounder on his pic, than on mine, I'm just saying it made for a better example of round pupils.

    The pupils, although still not round, were rounder than the pic I posted, is what I meant.

    Huh? Kiwi is a fruit but it's also a bird. What a kiwi is NOT is well, anything but a bird or a fruit.

    The bird is way cool. Flightless and nearly extinct. The only living relative to the recently extinct Dodo bird.

    However, this thread is about snakes that look like garter snakes. Any more?
