Re: Gail's garter - the snake kind silly.

That damn annoyingly defiant white patch. I want a melanistic that is black as black gets and nothing else.

I also like a nice clean snow but the radixes I got a few years ago have a slightly annoying white stripe on their head. I wish it wasn't there.

If I would just get off my butt and get a passport then someone who isn't necessarily me, could go to B.C. and smuggle back melanistic ordinoides. It's not that far of a drive.

That would be cool, you know, if anyone could get some somewhere close by. I really wanted one, but no such luck. My sister lives just north of Bellingham and she said that she has seen some black ones on her property, my son found an albino one there too. Might go hunting next spring when we go visit again and see what we can find. Ya neva know...

I'm with you Gail, I like the sweethearts. You guys can have the ones with attitude.

Re: Gail's garter - the snake kind silly.

Sorry if I'm backtracking, but I just caught up with this thread. Like Richard and Steve said...there are regular Plains Garters like many of the snakes that Steve has, which can also be referred to as Iowa Plains...that is a T.radix...my Sammy and Sadie are T.radix. Then there are Iowa Plains Snows...like my Possum...which is a kind of albino. And I suppose there are also Iowa Plains albinos...or albino T.radixes. If anyone has a pic of one of those, I would like to see it. Snows are pure pink..they don't have patterning like albinos.

    005.jpg Possum...a T.radix snow....

You crack me up Gail! You are turning into me! I will not get anymore garters....(I know that is about as true as me saying I will not drink coffee ever again). Love your new addition! And, again, I am really sorry about Cleo.

Usually when they say "Iowa plains" (or "Iowa albino) They're talking about a T- albino plains. And "Iowa snow plains" just means that the snake is a T- snow. That is, Iowa albino + anerythristic combo morph. Then of course, "nebraska" snow is the same thing, only the albino part is T+.

Again, "Iowa" is T- , "Nebraska" is T+. Why they don't just call them T+ or T- is beyond me because not all T- are from Iowa anymore, and not all T+ lines originate in Nebraska. That's just how it was in the beginning.

"Iowa snow plains" and "Nebraska snow plains" both snakes are anerythristic plus albino. The only difference is, one is T-(Iowa) and one is T+ (nebraska)

If I remember right, you ended up with my snows which I got from Julio when they were just a month or two old. One of them had a funny tilt to his head and every now and then, he would actually flip over and crawl upside down.
