Probably just the glottis opening and closing. sometimes it makes a clicking noise but you might just be hearing air flowing through the nostrils? But if I piss off/scare my bigger girls they do something with their mouth where it opens just a crack on the side and they intentionally expel air quickly through that and produces a hiss.

Probably just her breathing through her nostrils... But it is obnoxious. Think darth vader. (Maybe she is an evil half-cyborg? Hadn't considered that line of thinking...)
