    Re: Again offspring :D

    Thanks

It's completely true, Stefan. Last time I had 6 babies and also only 1 eated by itself... Mosty you have to force feed to get them started. Once you have them eating, they will keep eating those food items. The problem is that they really are amphibian eaters in the wild.

If some people have a very good way to get them eating, they can always tell me.

What amazes me is how less they eat compared with other species. She started eating 1 month after getting out of hibarnation. She was maybe pregnant for 2 weeks and already stopped eating. So she might have eated for a whole 1,5 months. And I expect her to stop eating again end september, begin october.

    Congrats again Hans!

Thanks for the info about getting the young to eat.
I was almost getting worried about the ladies. They have eaten for about a month here and they stopped again. In that month they grew about twice as big (not in the length )...

Does offering live fish or small pieces of fish in their waterbowl do anything?

    Thanks Sjoerd

Live fish is indeed a good trick, but they tend to really stick to it, even with other fish parts in the bowl. I'm not sure if I'm going to use it, it didn't help me that much last time.

Congratulations, Hans. Both the new babies and the photos are great.

It's a real shame, they are among the most beautiful garter species there are. But they sound a bit too difficult to me.
