    Re: William's garter snakes.

    Alright, thanks.

I found an injured snake a while back.

I still have it, as I thought it was hurt and I might be able to help it.

In 2 different places on it's body, it is bent and those places are stiff. I don't know how to really explain it...

When it moves those places do not. They just stay in one spot.

When I feel it, it is hard, like a rock...

    And stuck in that position..

Any ideas what it could be?

Sounds like spinal injuries that have possibly fused the spine.
Is the snake eating and acting normal otherwise?

The snakes around here are already starting to slow down for the winter, even though we've only had a few days below 70. They're still around, but they aren't doing 'summer activities' anymore (for lack of a better term). When you see them they're just curled under something and they aren't hanging out in good hunting areas as much.

Do you have a picture of the snake with the spinal problems? It's possible for them to recover and live quite awhile even with serious back injuries.

Sorry, I've forgot all about the picture.

I've been trying to get a good picture today...

    No luck...

    Bad lighting, possibly..

I'll get it figured out tomorrow.

    Re: William's garter snakes.

I can't get a good picture of the snake's spine...

It seems like nothing is wrong in the picture...

    Anyway, I have a question.

What do you guys do when you can't get a snake to change foods?

I have 2 snakes that were found in the same area. All they want to eat is frogs.

I know it's not good for them, and that's why I want to get them off it.

Besides, there is not a good supply, being this time of the year.

I need them to eat something else.

    Scenting isn't working.

Chop up the frog with something else.

    Chop while frozen!

Chop up a frozen frog, if you can stomach it, and mix it up in a dish (lid or something) with something else, like chopped worms.

What if the snake looks through it to find the frog pieces?
