Rhea, your baby is absolutely adorable! Congrats on the successful hatching! So did you just use a heat mat on a thermostat for temp control? Certainly looks easy enough... and cheap enough! Cool.

Don, nice score! Good luck with them!

I used a heat mat underneath, and an additional heat lamp on a thermostat that kicks in if the temps drop too far

re: Other pets (pics and discussions)

Thought I'd share what this little punkin has been busy growing into:

5 Weeks when I fell in love with the little stinker, still at his breeder's house:

6 months old - learning all about that show dog stuff & trying to grow into those ears...

12 months being a dork - the beautiful girl holding his lead in the win pic below was approaching, so he was being all wiggly & excited. He's loves to show and can't wait until she takes him to play show dog:

15 months checking on the kids next door - he LOVES them and they him:

Last week, 16 months, taking a very nice win at a Great Dane specialty show in Monterey (btw, I'm none of those people in the pic - judge, handler, club reps. I was standing in front of him off camera):

Besides being beautiful (and huge, yes, I know), he has been the easiest puppy I've ever owned. He's as sweet as can be, loves absolutely everyone and everything and is just a joy to have around. He has stolen my heart and gone a long way in filling the giant hole left by my last dane boy. I cherish the time spent doing things with him, whether traveling here and there for shows or just hanging on the couch. It took me some time to get over losing my last boy and it's obvious that this one's going to hurt just as much when he has to leave, tho I've told him that's absolutely not allowed. <3

I used Reptisand. They guarantee it won't cause this problem on the bag! I was pissed! I noticed you are using paper towels. I would stick with that!

Thanks for the compliments. I really do love the big lug... of course I love all of my critters, but the Dane puppy is really special to me. We also have a couple of rescue basset hounds (silly, messy, loud and very very sweet) and an elderly mixed breed herding dog of some sort that has been like Lassie to my kids. We really have a great mix of dogs right now. Oh, have a kitty, too. It's a big of a zoo around here, but I love it
