    Canned tuna shouldn't be the staple diet for any garter, raw tuna fillet pieces would be better. Try getting him to go on earthworms, pretty hard to go wrong with earthworms.

    Not necessarily. Cooking fish helps to remove some of the mercury. Tuna fillet is rather expensive and is much higher in mercury than say, farmed tilapia. I would be concerned about the heavy metals content of raw tuna fillet.

    Tuna is on the list of fish with Thiaminase. From postings about that, I would suspect we should never feed our snakes tuna. Here is the link: Thiaminase

    Unless the canned tuna explicitly says "no salt added", it's far too salty for a garter.
