    What's wrong with a 50/50 mix?

Mix = something new and exciting, I'd be happy if I found out I had a hybrid.

All very nice snakes, by the way, they seem to be in good care.

Wouldn't be happy at all .... would ruin my breeding plans and wouldn't create anything that didn't already look like something else in garter world.

Maybe so, but it seems like most garter keepers don't like hybrids, me included. People could create a hybrid and call it, say, a florida blue. and if it looked like one, you would believe them. It's deceiving. Some keepers work extremely hard on keeping their lines pure, and if someone messes that line of snakes up, all their hard work is ruined. I don't want to see garters ending up like corns and boas.

no , im so against it sorry
its not new an exciting look at the burm ball or the billons of corn morphs you can get a normal classic corn for £8 and morphs up to £500
without the normal even excisting we wouldnt have them yet we have had them and made them basically worthless
and hybrids ruin pure lines of species

Garter snake give us such variety within their species I see no need to cross them.
If it happens in nature with over lapping ranges, that's one thing but to purposely muddy up the gene pool. No. No way.
I don't want to see garter snakes go down the same road as corns and other snakes.
Just because we could cross them doesn't mean we should.
    I'm a purest.
Just T.radix has enough color differences to keep me interested for the rest of my life.
    Just my opinion.

Ditto. Big fat "NO" to crossing garter species or subspecies. Obviously you've seen all the morphs and variety. "New and exciting" is accomplished without crossing.

I agree with Richard. There's so many varieties you can get WITHOUT crossing any species/subspecies.

If you like surprises and not knowing what you'll get, try breeding T. ordinoides. They'll be purebred but you never know what color/pattern you will get by looking at the parents.
