Congrats, I like to try and find buyers for as many babies as possible within the drivable area before i sell the remaining to the local pet shop.

Our two new handsome boys -

    Ska (named by my husband):

He looks like Alice Cooper in that pic.

    And Patton (named by myself):

A bit more body visible on this one of Patton, but the lighting sucks:

They're about a year and a half old, but pretty small (I've been so used to girls!).
They got settled in to their new home and chomped down a pinky each on first offer! It seems like moving house was no obstacle to their appetite. Happy little fatties is exactly what I want.
Anyone else notice the obvious? Those aren't checkereds. They're plains garters. Reminds me of a blog I saw a while back. Guy pictured a normal eastern and called it "Checkered plains garter" and I was like, "huh?"

    Re: New Marcianus

Do you know what? I had actually been thinking that myself, and have been studying a few photos of the two to decide for sure. The yellow stripe and the patterning... And there was me, thinking it was just my inexperience.
But I trust your judgment, Richard - and I'm glad you mentioned it to confirm!
So, Steve - looks like I got some Radixes after all!

So, do radix males grow to be larger than checkereds? Anything I should know that's different in care?
I couldn't find anything specific in the species sheets.

Right then, better go change their 'title' everywhere...

    Good for you.
The more radixes in the U.K. the better.
I think radix males grow to a similar size as Checkereds.

They are not just snakes. They're garter snakes.

I haven't actually seen any radixes advertised anywhere yet, so I'm honoured.

In my opinion the finest garter snake you can have.
I am a little bias towards them though
