Ok in England a nob is slag for a mans manhood,so if you call someone a nob or massive nob,its a term of offence, unless its a friend and your having a Laugh.l've probably got this completely wrong and this guy is really a nob.but l think that he's got a good sense of hummer.

Welcome!
Yes, checkered garters are an excellent starter species- most are excellent eaters and quite easy going when handled. (Individuals can and will vary, but checkereds tend toward these traits.)
